Goodness, you've made me blush and grin like a maniac. Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm so glad you enjoyed this and that it resonated so well with your own ideas of Halbarad and the type of man he was--we think alike. :) I believe Halbarad had to have been a very special man, indeed, to be given the honor of being the King's Standard-bearer, and perhaps more telling, being the only recipient of a warm hug of greeting from Aragorn (at least that we see in the book--surely Aragorn hugged more people in his life than just Halbarad!). Another reviewer (at ff.net) pointed out how very unfair it is that Halbarad came *so* close to seeing Aragorn achieve his destiny... I suppose that's why I (and perhaps others, though I can only speak for myself) feel compelled to write him as a fully developed character. He's special, our Halbarad. :)
