Whereas the shock had made Elrond thoughtful, it made me a handful. I couldn’t have explained why I did the things I did, I only knew it felt good to force a reaction sometimes. Even the powerless can find ways to exert control.

This is so true, and I loved how consistently the child Elros illustrated his older self's point: screaming too loudly, causing scenes, and trying so hard to make his mark without knowing how. I thought it dovetailed really nicely with the original story, too--and I enjoyed the illustrations!
