OH! I'd forgotten most of what I've learned about Finrod, so looked him up on Encyclopedia of Arda in order to put this story in context. I'd forgotten he's Galadriel's brother and the delver of Nargothrond. With just those two extra little pieces, the story had a lot more unique and interesting layers, especially in the way you've created the back story as to why and how Finrod ended up in the pits of Thangorodrim with Beren. From his first involvement with men, learning to communicate, to his rescue by the house of Beor, you've done a great job of weaving in and fleshing out bits of canon with original stuff.
I'm not a big fan of death fics in most fandoms, but here in the Tolkien fandom, where there is no question what happens next - at least for the elves - I find death is far less intimidating and don't mind stories that feature character deaths because - as you've so beautifully illustrated here with Finrod getting to see the finish of what he helped to start - there is life beyond.
