I don't often read stories featuring OC's, 'cause, for the most part, I read and write fan fiction because I've fallen in love with particular characters. But as someone else said to me - in the interest of being a good member of the Tolkien community, I've been attempting to read all the B2MEM stories out here - and was richly rewarded in reading this one! I thoroughly enjoyed Orneredh as Yavanna's handmaiden and her wry, self-deprecating humor. Loved the idea that the Valar don't openly discuss their ... hmmmmm .... meddling? ... in the affairs of Middle-earth, as it's been generally agreed that they will not lend aid - you made me hoot with that one.
I did know the story of Glorfindel and Gondolin - so I was further rewarded for hanging around to listen to all the stories being told 'round the fire. Have to say, also, that I love the way you use words; very evocative prose and a wonderful use of language to convey your story. I also prefer my fan fiction to *sound* like the original, and this really captured the tone of Tolkien's works. Beautiful all the way around.
