I have to confess that the way G's death happened is not really my idea, but the way Tolkien set it up in The Fall of Gondolin. I did flesh out some parts, though, and Egalmoth-ize the whole thing.
But yes, I am rather circling around the Fall itself, in my writing, and speaking of it only at a remove... I think part of it is that I do not feel equal to doing it justice right now -- or perhaps I never will. It is something that should have an enormous emotional impact when faced straight on, and that seems like a very difficult effect to achieve. (You did a great job of that with the most important bits of the Feanorian story, btw.)
