I'm wiping away tears - but of the good kind - as I write this. The use of the swallow as metaphor was so beautifully done, I loved the interweaving of it throughout the story, reflecting both the joy and the sorrow that was equally beautifully interwoven in the story.
This brought to the surface many tender emotions, as I lost my mom, and six months later, my dad, fourteen years ago. Many of these themes came up as I spent time with my mom during the last year of her life. It was both tenderly painful and healing to revisit some of those memories through this story.
