Thank you for such kind remarks. :) I really liked this year's format too. (But you know I am a fan of compilations generally.) From a moderator perspective, it felt much more relaxed, even if it was more work than a no-frills daily prompt challenge. It was just really nice to get things done in advance, or to get an email from an author or artist asking for an extension and being able to be chill about it, because everything was caught up and running smoothly, and we could afford to be as liberal as needed with extensions as a result.
From a participant perspective, I just love being able to spotlight two or three stories or artworks each day. Even on self-publishing archives, I don't feel like most pieces ever get that kind of spotlight, and it's nice to see something carefully crafted rewarded for the time the author or artist has spent on it. I cringe when I see someone take the time to share something that receives no response. It has been awesome this month to see how generous readers were with their comments. I know I got more comments on my story than I've gotten on a short story in years.
