This one should speak to the practical side of Sam's nature. After seeing a need for something (your choice entirely), Sam invents something that will make life in the shire easier and sets about using the item. What reactions does he get? Does the item work? Is it admired for its cleverness or scorned as a foolish idea? Who or what is it for? You can have him invent something very AU or something that would be well within possible hobbit technologies. (Whatever those are). The item can be anything. I'd post an example but I might spoil an idea for someone. Amuse, surprise, or show us all the twisted workings of your inner inventor. Go as far as you like or stay within the bounds of canon.
