Sadly, Tegoldir's storytelling session with Estel only got half way through page one, but had he been allowed to continue, there may well have been some Little Bunny FooFoo-style boppings on the head. But it would all have ended happily, with Bunnykins getting back in time for supper, and supper being still hot.
The epilogue was entirely unplanned, and was written as an afterthought just before I pressed Post. It ran away with me and threatened to turn into a story on its own account! I can only hope that on their way back home after the end of the quest, Merry and/or Pippin borrowed the Bunnykins story again, copied it out, and took it back to the Shire, where generation after generation of hobbits babies will love it as a classic, and grow up gleefully boinging their way across the Shire.
