Although I personally have issues with giving children milk in this day and age, I am shocked and dismayed at the act of hatred of a father to a son in Denethor's age; milk and butterfat would have been a major source or calcium and protein and to deny his child this is criminal!
*sigh*
*gets off her soap box*
The homeiness of this is endearing. The hot meals, the bath, the family setting must have been a balm for young Faran. This would have shouted "Love" to anyone else; perhaps he knows this especially while snuggled up with his stuffed horse! *grins*
And, well, the jig is up. Faramir though is showing his depth of soul and honour here and that really doesn't suprise me at all. This is the young boy who will (would have?) grown up to be Faramir of Ithilien Rangers, Frodo's helper. Can't say anthing bad about that! :)
There seems to me a conspiracy of hiding going on here; everyone is figuring out who the young waif is and letting it all slide; I suppose I'd do the same if I saw that youngster so bereft of any human kindness from his own home.

Thank you for this, truly.
