Yay! Glad you liked it! I wrote most of this last weekend, and I spent several hours going, "Wah! It's just growing and growing and I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FINISH IT!" I almost despaired and dismissed it as unpostable. And then I sat on it for nearly a week, since I was still so unsure about it.
I can't promise a part 2 any time soon, I'm afraid, since I have a long story that I really need to return to, but I do hope to return to it one day. If I do, I'll probably skip some years, and resume the story in the final couple of decades of their lives. But we'll see...
Although, to be honest, the "sequel" that is most clamouring in my mind at the moment is the bard's correspondence entirely written in alliterative verse, even small-talk about stomach complaints. But I'm trying not to listen to THAT particular urge...
