At that point Sam's main thing was just to keep going on. I think Sam held on long more than Frodo. Frodo could only be led with the Ring furthering its torment. I wonder what inside Sam kept him holding on for so long. It is another fic idea and getting in his mind during that trek could be quite interesting. Thanks and sorry i missed this comment before!
