Glorfindel becoming Maia-trained was in Fiondil's wonderful "Elf Interrupted" 1 and 2. I adore the stories, but my Glorfindel is quite a bit more unsure of himself and wasn't highly trained, rather just pulled out of Namo's Halls and spirited over to Middle Earth with very little time between. Thus, the high skills on one hand and the huge gaps and uncertainties on the other. Glorfindel is very much a wounded warrior in my vision of him.
