I have yet to make an account at MPTT (my bad!! I need to rectify that), so I'll leave my review here.
I loved this. Absolutely loved it. I've been on a little bit of a 'I wanna read creepy stories' tear lately and this had such a nice creepy feel to it, and as usual with your stories, the characterizations were all superb. I've read and enjoyed your OC's for so long now that I forget they're not canon characters, they blend so seamlessly with all the canon folk. I've always liked how you write Aragorn and you did him great service here, as usual, and Gandalf! *flails* You need to write more Gandalf. *bribes you with miruvor*
I like how this explored the DĂșnedain's lack of knowledge about the barrow wights and how to fight them; they all showed the remarkable bravery of their race even in the face of such terrifying unknown. I also like how Nethril is a balanced character: no damsel in distress but nonetheless succeeding as much by luck and pluck as by skill. I'm glad you created such an interesting OC, especially given the anti-OC climate that pervaded LOTR fic for so long (and maybe still does? I'm a little out of the loop these days). Nethril is as far from a Mary Sue as a character can be, and it's wonderful. :) (And can I also add, selfishly, that it was fun to read your fic without having to don my beta hat? READING FOR SHEER UNADULTERATED PLEASURE FOR THE WIN!!)

Well done on all counts, my friend!
