I just dug this out of my WiP folder, polished a few sentences and otherwise posted this as I'd left it, four years ago. Why I didn't post it back then is beyond me. *shrugs*

Summary:
Having set up camp in Middle-earth to prepare for the War of Wrath, Finarfin has the most important meeting of them all.

Yes, I feel it must have been a very important moment (days? weeks?) for both of them. Finarfin probably expected Galadriel to come back home later, and maybe she initially thought she would, too... instead, they have to part for yet another couple of millennia. So indeed, at least they got to be together for the battle (and protect each other a bit, maybe)!

Are you just assuming that Galadriel fought in the War of Wrath for the purpose of this fic or is it something that is firmly part of your head canon?

We are given so few and contradictory clues about what she was doing, after that last canonical visit to Nargothrond!

I was way too amused by this line myself, so I'm happy it gave you a kick, too!

Galadriel fighting in the War of Wrath is just too awesome and powerful an image to ignore, for me. Not sure I'd consider it "firmly part of my head canon", though; it's more a case of "so cool I haven't ever considered about the canonicity (or lack thereof)". I probably should have! Now I feel guilty.

I know. *hugs* I just honestly hadn't realised that I've never for a second tried to find out what Tolkien ever said about Galadriel's part in the War of Wrath. So I can't even recall the clues about what she was doing, it's all firmly overridden by "BUT IT WOULD BE AWESOME!" Some scholar I am!
