Eeee! I squeed when I saw this essay and I was not disappointed. This is going to be an extremely useful resource that (as far as I know?) nobody has attempted before. I know I've played with the thought occasionally, but I've always been put off by the amount of research required! Kudos to you for not shying away from that, and for writing and sharing your results. I love how far you took it, including details like artificial tidal pools (I expect they'd also be harvesting salt?) and elf-cups, and Gondolin's no-children policy was a shocking (but entirely believable) twist!
