It's true, I definitely made him quite young, younger than perhaps is reasonable. Yet somehow when I first conceived of how to interpret his character for my earlier fic, I could not for the life of me imagine him any older than around 30! Which, as you point out, means Aragorn and Arwen certainly waited a long while (I suppose we can reason that out in different ways?? Haha).
