I've always enjoyed those initial "feel-out" conversations held by hobbits, where they establish who they are and how they fit into the larger Shire network of families.
You've really got a great feel for how things work in the Shire. I'd be really interested in a comparison of pre-War and post-War Shire government and how things may have changed. I think some of the more ceremonial positions may have become more active.
Feel free to use my turnip and radish comparison. I love watching the kids on Chopped as well as the Kids Baking Championship where they are throwing together ingredients with little thought "Oh, I'm just going to make a white cake here and frost it with a mascapone frosting" kind of thing. I'd have to check a recipe for every step, they're just throwing ingredients into the mixer and then into the oven. So talented!
