At this point, they're the kind of relationship that has formed over ages of "I enjoy your company" into "I WANT your company" but Uinen(who is a little oblivious, admittedly) hasn't really equated her feelings with the concept of love, while Ossë has quietly decided that his feelings are unrequited(obliviousness in a different direction, really) because he considers himself less worthy of love, and so he loves from afar. Meanwhile, the Elves have all these stories in which someone went "Wait, Uinen clearly loves this guy and he loves her, I mean, they're obviously married.", which kinda passed over the heads of everyone involved (the other Valar have betting pools which have by now passed the stage of 'ooh, excitement' and reached 'oh god, this level of pining is killing me'. Ulmo will be having words in the next chapter.... ;)
