I always thought Uinen was stronger? Thugh her strength was a more...
dormant.. kind, I guess, because her temper is less volatile than Ossë, but
yeah... I'm not sure Ainur ought to be 'civilized' (esp. not when we
consider gender roles). The Sea, to me (as someone who rather loves it) is
both calm, and wild, and Uinen has to incorporate both these aspects in her
being to properly envisage what the Sea is 8to me, anyway), making her a
meek and feminine wiles type seemed utterly incompatible with her
character, either way.
Eärlinno is totes Sebastian from the Little Mermaid (though he is also one
of Olwë's grandsons); I really couldn't help myself giving him a more
active role in this piece.
As for Bunn's piece and this interwoven collab we've ended up with, next
chapter should feature some Elrond, as well as a resolution of the
Uinen/Ossë tangle(hopefully) because Maglor is right, even if Uinen hadn't
realised till now that the Children consider her wed to her closest friend
and confidante. I won't promise that it'll be the end, because there are
about 200 years left in Bunn's fic for me to play with, so we shall see ;)
