B2MeM Prompt, Card and Number: Sonnet from Formats & Genres, Fëanor was framed! from Feanatics, both N42
Format: Poem
Genre: Drama, Poetry
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Characters: Fëanor, Manwë
Pairings: None
Summary: An alternate explanation for the burning of the ships.

We landed the ships in Drengist Firth
And it was cold there at the mouth of the bay.
The storms died as our feet touched earth
And we lay fires to keep the cold away.
Along the beach the bonfires rose,
Flames leapt up to keep us warm.
But the wind caught and the fire grows;
It jumped to the ships to do them harm.
To put them out, there was no way --
So blame not Fëanáro but Manwë!

Oh, I like this alternative a lot! Frankly, if you're inclined to view the Vala as less than benevolent, this has merit. Great job.

When you get fires and wood and wind, it's certainly easy to get accidental fires!
And it's a clever extra twist to turn and attribute blame to Manwe for the wind.
Nicely done!

Ooh, what an interesting theory! (Heh, I completely failed to remember the burning of the ships when I was considering crimes to apply to this prompt.) And you wrote a sonnet!

Love it! You don't see many sonnets nowadays.

What an interesting twist! I wonder what Manwe would think of being blamed for this...hmm...

Heh, that certainly is an interpretation I haven't seen before! :D I love how this is a sonnet, but reads almost like a sea shanty, very fitting!
