Summary: Little Estel learns how to help his ill mother.
Elrond looked out of the window of his room and saw a little boy striding slowly across the courtyard of Rivendell, aiming for the bench near the fountain. He seemed to be dejected and without energy. That was strange, as little Estel usually was not able to keep sitting for long, as he was busy around, questioning everybody about literally everything or making pranks to his older brothers. Elrond thought it would be good to check if something bad had happened.
He went down to the courtyard and headed to his youngest. Estel raised his head and the elf could see tears welling in his eyes.
- What happened, ion nin? - he asked with concern.
- Mummy can't read me a story, because she has sore throat and can't speak...
- Oh... so maybe you want me to read you?
- It's not about reading, I can do it by myself - Estel stated proudly. - But I can't watch mummy suffer... It's hard not to be able to speak, isn't it?
Elrond could not help but smile. It was hard, for sure, especially for a little boy who could not keep his mouth shut for more than five minutes.
- It is, Estel, it is. So maybe you would help me make a tea for your mummy to feel better?
A broad smile appeared on the boy's face.
- Could I? Really?
- Of course, Estel. Let's go to the garden to pick some hollyhock flowers.
He nodded his head eagerly, getting up from the bench. He took Elrond's hand and together they went to the garden.

- What is its name? - Estel asked, pointing at one of the plants growing around.
Elrond sighed. It was at least tenth same question.
- It is lavender, Estel. It helps for insomnia, restlessness and problems with heart or stomach. You can pick a couple of flowers for your mom. They smell very good.
Estel nodded, satisfied with the answer, and went to pick some lavender. Elrond smiled. A moment of silence, at last. But in his heart he was glad little Estel wanted to know so much. One day, the healing knowledge could probably save his life.
- Ada! - a moment of silence did not last for long. - What do you think? - he asked, showing a bouquet of small violet flowers.
- This is beautiful, little one. Your mom will be very happy when she receives it. Now, we should finally get some hollyhock for her, don't you think?
- Oh, sure. I want her to regain her voice, really. It's hard to talk with someone not responding to you.

- And... what will we do with all those flowers, Ada? - Estel asked when they were heading back to Elrond's study.
- We will boil the water and make tea.
- And that's all?
- That's all.
- But... all these flowers will not fit in a cup...
- We will put there only a couple.
- What about the rest?
- Some we will dry to have in case of any other ailments in the future and some we will keep to make your mommy tea tomorrow.
- Can I make it?
- Of course, Estel. Mommy will be very proud of you.

Elrond watched as little Estel carefully carried a steaming cup to his mother's room.
- Mom, I brought you tea, so you can speak again - he said proudly.
Gilraen smiled and nodded her head. She took the cup from her son's hands and took a sip.
- Can you talk now? - asked Estel impatiently.
Elrond smiled.
- I think it needs some time, Estel.
- Oh... I thought it would heal mom quickly...
- It will, but not as quickly.
- I feel better already, sweetheart - Gilraen whispered. - Thank you.
- That's wonderful, naneth! I have something else for you - Estel spoke and ran away. He was back in no time, holding a bouquet of lavender flowers.
- These are for you, mommy. Ada told me its lavender. It is for good sleep and aching stomach, you know. And it is pretty, isn't it?
Gilraen nodded as she took the flowers from his hands.
- It is, Estel. Thank you.
