B2MEM Challenge i22 - Sons of Feanor - Maglor and Finrod
Format: Gen
Rating: G
Characters: Maglor and Finrod
Pairing: Maglor/Finrod
Title: Doing the Right Thing
Summary: Maglor and Finrod find they can discuss their music, if not other things.
I met him in an inn in Ard-Galen, whither we had both wandered, seeking out the songs of the Elves who had gone into far regions.
For music was our one true bond. Too much sorrowful history on both our sides existed that we could not bear to speak about it. Neither of us wished to quarrel over old wounds, preferring to let them heal without interference.
Perhaps that was another bond we shared - noble intentions with desire for peace - a desire to put things right - though we both thought it not possible.
Over cups of our Elven hosts' fine wine, we sat, conversing about our inspirations for music and lyrics as a way of not discussing the rift in our families and past hurts. But soon we realized that we could much better play and sing our songs to each other behind closed doors, away from distractions.
For we both felt intense desire to sing to each other. After spending so much time together, we recognized we shared a true kinship, a likeness that was not sundered by all that had happened between our two families.
Sitting on our shared bed, gazing into each others' eyes with deep and profound understanding, we vowed to tell our story in song, that our shared tragedy would be forever known until the end of the world.
