If I had to write a story that actually tried to match the number of years involved in getting from childhood to the destruction of Numenor, I think I'd fall over and die! Telescoping is my friend!
Any way I cut it, Míriel's life pretty much is a tragedy - except when Pandë or Surgical Steel are writing her as a willing partner of Pharazôn, working against zealot rebels. At least she got Elarien out of Numenor and into position to make a safe haven for the Faithful - she got that much of her dream. Just not Elarien and a happily ever after.
