Summary: Memories of times past
Authors Notes: Not particularly brilliant but was trying to get the prompts in - icon is for third prompt I had
Aragorn was grateful that he had sage amongst his medicinal kit as he dealt with the minor scratches and grazes that many had picked up during their desperate flight from the beast at Durin’s Doors. It helped to numb the pain a little and to stop the bleeding – a most useful herb for more than just cooking as Sam had put it when he had used it on him. He was glad that he had managed to find some as they passed through Hollin.
They all wondered where the beast had come from. He and Gandalf both knew that there was much evil in this world beyond Sauron and it could date from the earlier times when Melkor’s taint covered the earth, much as Durin’s Bane had. The unease in his heart about taking this way had not lessened. However the beast meant they could not go back – they must go forward to see what may come in these deep places. He realised that Gimli hoped to find some trace of Balin and the dwarves that had gone with him, but he suspected given what they had found at the West Gate no dwarves would be left here in Moria.
