Summary: An interesting perspective on life in Fornost at the time of the War of the Ring
Authors Notes: This came out of the blue – my muse hit me over the head as I looked at today’s prompts.

Making slow progress up this crumbling wall I wonder at the vagaries of men who built such places but let them go to rack and ruin. Once, so we are told, this place had been a thriving city, but now it was falling into disrepair and we were able to go places where we could not. The walls can be rough but I am used to that as I move around looking for food. In this ruin plants grow in the most unusual places including poking out the top of the roofs. I wonder how they got there, but it is not my place to know. All I need is plenty to eat and shade to hide from the bright light of day. I may think about the former inhabitants of this place, however it is many years since they did so, I am told by traditional stories within my clan. I am somewhat more curious thank many so tended to bug the old ones for those stories. My brethren are less curious – they care about the here and now – finding food and shade. I do wonder what would happen to us if men did return in to this place.
