Perhaps he should have looked frightened here, considering the wolves were chasing him at the time, but I thought he deserved a moment to mourn his master's death.
I hope so. ;) I'm so glad C. Tolkien left Rochallor's death out of The Silmarillion. I actually felt like crying, when I read that description this morning. :((
"Now Rochallor had stayed beside the king until the end, but the wolves of Angband assailed him, and he escaped from them because of his great swiftness, and ran at last to Hithlum, and broke his heart and died."
It's in HoMe XI., The War of the Jewels.
I was always under the impression Rochallor's fate remained unknown and that maybe he returned to Hithlum to "live happily ever after", but Tolkien apparently killed him. Just like every other character in his books that I liked. :/
Thank you! It's really the horse that deserves all the credit. I barely had to do anything except for changing the background and find a way to make that natural metallic sheen these horses possess stand out.
Thank you very much! He is beautiful, isn't he? I figured the horses that were brought from Aman (and their descendants) had to be something special and thought it was likely they looked something like Akhal-Tekes.
