Summary: It's the kids who suffer the consequences.
When messengers finally came from Arnor, it had been months since Meneldil had been certain the palantÃr had shown him his Uncle's death. To the forefront question on his mind, however, the messengers could give no answer-- what of the ring? Lost in Eriador the ring was far enough from them that it was unlikely to cause damage, but the possibility was always there, and his people next to the shadow.
From his father, Meneldil had learned of Sauron's subtlety and power, had learned to fear and expect the worst. Thanks to Isildur's foolishness, they would never find rest again...
