Summary: It takes very little for Erebor Quest to go disastrously wrong.


Elrond sighed over the map, for there was nothing to see this night. He carefully folded the paper, and handed back it to Gandalf. "If your arts avail nothing, old friend, then I am afraid there is no message to help you in your quest, and the solution is indeed to sit upon the treshold."

A year later, the Council found the world near ending. Mirkwood ash, Lothlórien burned, Imladris aflame, the Line of Kings a pyre. And those who lived knew, with Sauron's armies swarming from the mountains, ant-like in the dragon's swathe, that his Eye turned toward Eriador...
