Summary: Things get tough in Númenor.

Toward the end, more conversations in Númenor happened in secret than in open view. A word, a gesture, would sometimes be sufficient, and from a fleeting hand at one's neck, a gaze heavenward, two people versed in the code could gather much.

Silence...

Later, behind closed doors, a new possibility was discussed.

"The Meneltarma is the only place the King won't think to look."

And the idea had sone merit, except that they were on this fix because some lines were not meant to be crossed.

"There are havens, beyond the sea. If we made it there..."

I love the Númenorean resistance. Such a great setting for intrigue - and of course, coded language and gestures would be a part of that. Interesting to see the planning stage of the decision to make a haven elsewhere for the Faithful, and what their first choice of settlement was!
