We're doing GGK in my 12th-grade classes right now! :D Yesterday, my seventh-period class was inventing a Ghetto Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. O.O (Hey, I was just happy they were that engaged! :D)

Ghetto Sir Gawain sounds harmless compared to some of the crazy ideas I've had. Like, random guy showing up wanting to play a jolly game you can't escape which involves chopping someone's head off? Axe. It's the Middle English predecessor of Saw! *runs and hides*

(Yes, I'm officially almost as obsessed with Sir Gawain as I'm obsessed with Tolkien. Of course, it's all Tolkien's fault anyway...)

Yes, our class's version of GGK is definitely more of a comedy! :D Today, one of the discussion questions was what they would do if they were Sir Gawain. (We're right at the point where Gawain has just chopped off the GK's head.) I should have known to be worried when one of my students asked me a nice way to write "baby mama." His idea was to find the Green Chapel, then find lots of women and impregnate them all to keep his line alive. *facepalm*

They're entertaining, at least. They're my favorite class to teach, at the moment.
