Summary: Thoughts on kingship
Authors Notes: This has taken forever to finish – blame real life and its distractions. I got it three-quarters written and there it languished till today when the muse kicked me over the head and told me to get on with it. Not entirely sure how well it has turned out – writing well outside my comfort zone about a character I only knew a very small amount about. Taking the fate of Amras as in Tolkien’s later writings as opposed to what is in the Silmarillion.

Standing in her workshop she reflected on all that had come to pass the red-haired elleth thought over the madness of the past days and indeed years. She had been worried by her husband’s seeming obsession with his Silmarils, and thanks to the influence of Melkor he had then drawn his sword on his half-brother. That was when she made her break and refused to join him in his Valar-imposed exile. Instead she had remained behind even through all her sons had followed their father and grandfather to Formenos. So had come the first split which had now be furthered to breaking point by his leaving for Middle Earth with all their sons. She had begged him to leave bother her the twins or at least one of them with her. But her husband had refused telling her that she should act as a proper wife and accompany them. In that moment a darkness entered her heart as she prophesied that one of the twins would never set foot on Middle Earth.

Now as she stood in her workshop she dreaded what would come to pass as she knew one by one her sons would be lost and she would be unlikely to see them again given the Fate imposed on them and all who followed them by the Lord of Mandos. Already her Umbarato was gone – as she had prophesised without setting foot on Middle Earth. What the fate of her remaining six sons or indeed her husband would be only the Valar knew.
