Summary:  The High King's Steed

Thundersnow was born to his dead mother who had succumbed to the freezing wasteland of the Helcaraxe. He was named for the miracle that he was, surviving the birth, and for the bit of warmth that a fleeting thundersnow whirled around them during his excision from the already icing body. Fingon noted how small the foal was; quiet, barely managing to stand on his own before he was hidden in what warmth was found with the elflings. Now his kin stands tall, proud, and strong, nostrils flaring in the cold of a thundersnow, bearing the new High King - Fingon.

In my own 'verse, Fingon's horses are descended from one given to him by Maedhros. But I love the idea of a foal somehow managing surviving the Helcaraxe! And Thundersnow is a most fitting name for a High King's Steed.
