Title: "Things I did in March: A General Thank-you"
Author Name: Himring
Prompt: "In the Willow-meads of Tasarinan", etc.
Summary: I enjoyed this year's crop of stories a great deal!
Rating: General
Warnings: bad verse; mild spoilers for several stories
Author's Notes: Thank you to all the participants and especially to the moderators!

I wandered in Summer with Firiel by Lake Nenuial,
danced among the reeds with Fingon in Mithrim,
sneezed at wreaths of holly in Eregion with Gil-galad.
Ah! the light and the music of the Summer of Arda!
And I said that was good.

To the distant lands of Dorwinion I came in the Autumn,
sat talking dreams and politics with Ivorwen in the Angle,
attended a coronation in Tirion with Indis the Fair.
Ah! the gold and the red and the sighing of leaves in the Autumn in Arda!
And I thought that was best.

The slopes of the Misty Mountains in Sauron’s company I climbed in Winter,
I celebrated Midwinter twice, with Elrond,
and snacked on jellied candies with Erestor.
Ah! the wind and the whiteness and the black branches of Winter in Arda!
It was more than my desire.

In Doriath I went walking in the rains of Spring,
sailed up the Anduin with Halbarad,
and planted golden flowers on Glorfindel’s grave.
Ah! the sight and the smell of the Spring in Arda!
My voice went up and sang in the sky.

And now I have returned to my own land, in the country of Beleriand,
I sit in my castle before my keyboard and think in gratitude
that the roots of Arda are still strong, for stories grew green and thick as leaves
in the month of the March, during the Seasons of Middle-earth!

A/N: Not sure whether anyone would consider it an honour to be included in this poem, but if you're looking for your story and it's not mentioned, that's not because I didn't like it, but because I couldn't fit it in!

ETA: I'm very glad my humble tribute to your excellent stories was so well received! I'm afraid I didn't manage to respond to the individual comments.

♥ Thank you! This made me smile, particularly I sit in my castle before my keyboard and think in gratitude. I think Tolkien would've been proud once he got over the shock!

Admittedly I haven't been tending to my own Tolkien fandom mallorn (to extend the metaphor) very much lately, so it won't yield a Party Tree, but it might still bear a few leaves.

(Also, am flattered.)

What a great idea, and so well done! ♥

that the roots of Arda are still strong, for stories grew green and thick as leaves
in the month of the March, during the Seasons of Middle-earth!

I don't think there could be a more fitting metaphor.

This rounds the month off perfectly! I recognise many of these and love how you've woven them together (and thank you). Such a good idea and so well done.

That is great, Himring! And, oh, my, yes, it is an honor to be included. Definitely. Thank you so much!

I am slowly making my way through the B2MeM 2014 offerings with the goal of taking in each one (really a wonderful diversity of stories, arts, and crafts), so expect to hear from me in the nearish future...certainly before next March. :^)

Wow! What a lovely and fitting tribute to a great B2MEM!

(I'm a sucker for changing original poetry around a bit to commemorate or honor something, like a parody but nice... not sure what you call that.)

Wow, this is awesome! What a creative idea and cool tribute. I love this:

I sit in my castle before my keyboard and think in gratitude
that the roots of Arda are still strong, for stories grew green and thick as leaves

because that was the spirit in which someone (I don't even know who!) suggested the first B2MeM: to keep Middle-earth alive, even when we don't have movies to look forward to. (Which, interestingly enough, we've all managed to do well enough that we are again in the midst of a Tolkien movie trilogy!)

Thank you for this. :)

A clever tribute to the month! I really like the metaphor of a tree for Arda -- everyone here has proven that it is a grand, healthy tree indeed!
And danke schoen. <3
