Lonely Mountain Toy Emporium

Wind-up Toys, Wooden Puzzles, Toys and Games of Every Description (This stall is for prompts set in Erebor, Dale and Laketown.)

Comments are now closed but you can continue using the prompts; no claiming is necessary.

How to Post your Prompts:

Leave a comment with the subject line identifying the main characters, gen/het/slash/femslash/poly (if it’s not obvious), a brief description of the prompt, and possible warnings if needed (MPTTor SWG’s). The comment itself should be the prompt.

If for some reason you cannot make a subject line appear, please write and bold the relevant information as the first line of your prompt.

The subject lines and/or bold text will allow participants to easily scan for prompts they're interested in.

For example:

Subject line-- Frodo and Aragorn, gen, hurt/comfort at the Field of Cormallen
Comment-- While Frodo is unconscious after being rescued from Mount Doom, Aragorn cares for him.

OR

Comment-- Fëanor/Nerdanel, wedding night, sexual content

On their wedding night, Fëanor and Nerdanel end up not sleeping at all, as they are too busy enjoying each other.

Remember, no fanworks are to be posted in the prompts posts.

Bilbo commissioned lots of toys from Dale for his 111th Birthday. Whose workshop got that commission? What sorts of toys did they make? How many did they make? Who delivered them?

I think a story about Dís belongs here. Here is the bunny: Dís learns about the fate of her sons. Now you can approach it from the movieverse angle (perhaps Tauriel returns Fili's token to her and delivers the news?) or bookverse: all up to the artist in question.

Any takers and who is willing to give Dís her chance to be in a story?

Smaug, The Company, AU, gen or slash, action

From: [identity profile] me-llamo-berry.livejournal.com
Now, we all love the canon and there are some things we'd never try to change. Well... I'm in the mood to see someone of Thorin's Company kill Smaug. Could be anyone really, preferably not Bilbo as he's not really a killer (as established with Gollum), but I suppose it'd be interesting to see. Anyways... Someone of the Company kills Smaug. How did they get to that point? Did Smaug discover them and attack them? Did Bard's attempt to kill him fail? How do they get a giant dragon carcass out of Erebor? (please don't use a simple answer like Gandalf uses magic) Is the carcass possibly useful somehow? How does the Battle of Five Armies progress since they've already had a battle and killed the dragon?

It's all up to you. And there's even room for slash if someone feels inclined.

I would love to try my hand at this but wanted to ask before I purchased it. The story that jumps to mind is movie verse and I was wondering if that would be alright with you or if you would thinking more book verse?

It doesn't matter to me, it works either way for me. :)

In that case, I would like to buy this prompt.

The Survivors of Dale, starting over

What was it like for the survivors of Dale to start over in Esgaroth, how did they adapt to their new lives? Bonus for featuring Girion's wife in a leadership role after her husband died, and their child(ren; the Hobbit mentions an eldest son, implying younger siblings) learning to adapt to exile.

Returning to Dale after the Five Armies

The flipside to the above prompt - the survivors of Esgaroth reclaim Dale after the War. Feel free to include movie-only characters like Sigrid and Tilda adapting to their rather sudden change in status and growing into their new positions while they make the city habitable again, figure out new trading arragements with the Dwarves and Elves, etc.

A Special Toy

Date: 2015-03-12 07:43 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] engarian.livejournal.com
Toys can allow children to speak out when life is frightening, they can be friends where all others have turned their backs, and they can be the confidants children long for but don't have. Take a toy from Dale and tell its tale. Bring it through a single child or many, one generation or more, The Shire, Rivendell, or maybe just the deeper mines in the Lonely Mountain. What is the toy? Who owns it, and why does this child (or these children) cherish this one toy about all others?

Smaug, gen, his point of view

From: [identity profile] starbrow.livejournal.com
I love Smaug as a character, evil, devious, clever worm that he is, and I'd love to see any story from his POV, whether that be his conquest of the Mountain, his conversation with Bilbo, or his own defeat and fall.

Thrór Ignores Warning

Date: 2015-03-16 03:11 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] samtyr.livejournal.com
In DoS, Thranduil says to Thorin: "I have faced the great serpents of the North. I warned your grandfather (Thrór) of what his greed would summon but he would not listen."

Given the animosity between Elves and Dwarves, why would Thranduil have left his home to warn them of such a specific danger? Was it only to keep Mirkwood safe? Or did he feel some other obligation?
