Khamûl’s Sulfurous Exfoliants

Scrubs, Rubs and Cleaning Pumices made with the most famous of volcanic ash. (This stall is for prompts featuring Mordor and its environs.)

Comments are now closed but you can continue using the prompts; no claiming is necessary.

How to Post your Prompts:

Leave a comment with the subject line identifying the main characters, gen/het/slash/femslash/poly (if it’s not obvious), a brief description of the prompt, and possible warnings if needed (MPTTor SWG’s). The comment itself should be the prompt.

If for some reason you cannot make a subject line appear, please write and bold the relevant information as the first line of your prompt.

The subject lines and/or bold text will allow participants to easily scan for prompts they're interested in.

For example:

Subject line-- Frodo and Aragorn, gen, hurt/comfort at the Field of Cormallen
Comment-- While Frodo is unconscious after being rescued from Mount Doom, Aragorn cares for him.

OR

Comment-- Fëanor/Nerdanel, wedding night, sexual content

On their wedding night, Fëanor and Nerdanel end up not sleeping at all, as they are too busy enjoying each other.

*

Remember, no fanworks are to be posted in the prompts posts.

When the Dark Tower is thrown down and the Dark Lord defeated, the Eight, leaderless, find themselves out of work. In order not to die of boredom (can the undead die, anyhow?) they start up a business in Sulfurous Exfoliants. Who would their customers be? How well would their business thrive? Would they be allowed to remain within Mordor, or have to take their custom elsewhere?

(Sorry, such a cracky stall name was BEGGING to be taken literally...)

Hmm, I'd like to try this one, because my fics ran more to humor than anything. I haven't done this before so do I just claim this or what?

Yep, you just need to comment to claim a prompt, which you've done, so you're good to go. :)

[subject line continued]....Second to Third Age, gen - humor (dark humor especially) or pathos, your pick.

Comment:

To my mind (and borne out by Frodo's vision when the Dark Tower fell in The Return of the King), the Barad-dûr was not simply a huge fortress, but a fortified city, and surely, this city would have a number of bars/pubs for its residents. (In the Pandë!verse, one of these is "The Black Rose." ;^))

So...

Setting: A bar or pub in the Barad-dûr

Time frame: Maybe the Second Age, say, post-fall of Ost-in-Edhil to the arrival of Ar-Pharazon; but more likely the Third Age, when Sauron is gathering allies in Mordor for war upon the West.

Scenario: A young orc soldier from a tribe in the northern Misty Mountains, newly "recruited" (conscripted) into the Dark Lord's forces, goes to the pub w/ his/her buddies to drown his/her homesickness in ale. Who does s/he encounter in the pub? All orcs? Mix of orcs and Men? Maybe a troll-wench or two? Is there entertainment? Does the soldier feel better or worse as the evening wears on? Alternatively, the character could be a Man from the East or Harad, similarly homesick. Your choice. OCs for the win! But a cameo appearance by a canon character would be cool, too.

I'm definitely buying this prompt, because Shaghkar wants to own a tavern in Barad-dûr. He said he would name it "The Thirsty Jaws" ;)

Fili and Kili (one, both, or any character I suppose) are kidnapped at a young age (no older than the equivalent of preteens, preferably younger) and raised as slaves in Mordor after a long journey to Mordor. Do they ever escape? Do they get to join the Company? Or are they stuck until they die? Preferably dark, hurt/comfort, torture, etc. With bits of fluff and humor thrown in occasionally.

Frodo, Sam, Boromir, Boromir!lives AU, gen, Amon Hen to Amon Amarth

On the Stairs of Cirith Ungol, after they find Frodo cut loose from Shelob's webbing and signs of her having been stabbed, Gorbag accuses Shagrat "‘By all the signs, Captain Shagrat, I’d say there’s a large warrior loose, Elf most likely, with an elf-sword anyway, and an axe as well maybe; and he’s loose in your bounds, too, and you’ve never spotted him.
Boromir is that warrior.

The forces of Mordor are vast. Such armies require cleaners, cooks, payroll officers and boot-makers. Even the darkest of Dark Lords' Citadels require latrine-emptiers and throne polishers and safety officers who go "tut!" over the lack of hand-rails on Orodruin. What about the stable-boys of the Nazgûl? The third trainee Gollum-torturer from the left? What did the War of the Ring look like to a person (creature?) like this? I expect this will be a humorous piece, but feel free to go serious if you wish.

Sauron drew all manner of evil creatures around him, from the Watcher in the Water to the troops of the Easterlings. But were they allies or were they foes that had been coerced into aiding the Dark One? Spin a story of an ally and why he/she came to join the forces of Mordor.

One idea I always enjoy which answers the question of what happened to Maglor after the First Age involves him getting entangled with Sauron. What are the circumstances in which he ends up in Mordor? Was he imprisoned and tormented, left to live his life in regret while locked away in Barad-Dûr or has he been brainwashed to serve Sauron faithfully?

What would Sauron even need from Maglor? A chance to humiliate the House of Fëanor further? Perhaps he lusts after Maglor's voice? Or he needs Maglor to help him build something.

Did Maglor survive the War of the Ring? Did someone find and rescue him? And if so, in what condition was Maglor in?

What happened in Mordor after the fall of Sauron? Did it thrive or was it what we now call a deprived area? Who were the freed slaves that Aragorn gave the lands around Lake Núrnen to?

I think this might be a good thing for Faramir and Aragorn to have an argument about, perhaps!
