Summary: Sent to the refugee camp of Imladris by Ereinion, Glorfindel arrives and starts to settle in.

Beginnings

"I recall seeing you on the fringes of Ereinion's court," Glorfindel said as Erestor escorted him to his assigned chamber, near the scribe's own. Glorfindel turned toward him, a questioning look in his eyes.

As Erestor opened the door and ushered the warrior into his new home, he blushed. "You noticed me? I usually stayed hidden in the corners. My job was to keep records of meetings and gather information needed by the High King to assist his decision-making. I asked permission to accompany Lord Elrond on his campaign because I felt musty - like I was fading into the shadows. I know my way around a sword, but the only sword I was picking up was a quill."

Glorfindel had walked into the room, almost a mirror image of Erestor's but without the comforts that had made his companion's room cozy and welcoming. He turned at the hearth and faced the elf who he felt was quickly becoming a friend.

"I did notice you - actually, you are quite memorable. But I was off-balance then. Confused. I fell asleep in the West and awakened in Middle Earth. I know there was a journey, but I have no memory of it. Now I am to fight against Evil once again. It is slightly overwhelming."

"If I can be of help, I am only three doors down. I would like to get to know you better. You fascinate me; not just because you are twice-born, but also because I think your tactics may be distinctly unpredictable. Not to mention that I find you attractive. Deadly and beautiful … you may be irresistible." Erestor walked to the warrior, holding out his hand. Glorfindel grasped it in a strong grip. "I will knock on your door at daybreak. You'd best get some rest."

That's very intriguing...to think Glorfindel had noticed Erestor after all! :) It's a lovely story you've been building.

I liked the feeling of attraction between the two of them, and it's interesting to imagine how Glorfindel must have felt when he returned to Middle-earth.

His sudden new life must have been extremely disorienting, I like the way you show this.

I'm hoping we'll see a little of Erestor's backstory as well.

A most decidedly provocative beginning to what promises to be a warm, productive friendship. Am reading these backwards at this point, so it's fun to mentally turn them around so as to imagine them properly in order.

Hah! Certainly not shy to say things as they are, these two, are they?
Poor Glorfindel though, I cannot imagine how confusing it must be to be thrown into this familiar-yet-not-familiar new world. I wonder how much say he had in the decision to return to Middle-earth?
