March 11 Prompts

Here are today’s prompts:

• 2006 -- In the "Tale of the Years" Tolkien tells us about what happens to certain characters each day of March 3019. We challenge you to write about the character(s) he does NOT mention: “Gollum visits Shelob, but seeing Frodo asleep nearly repents. Denethor sends Faramir to Osgiliath. Aragorn reaches Linhir and crosses into Lebennin. Eastern Rohan is invaded from the north. First assault on Lórien."


• 2007 (t_n_b) -- K: Like kissing the King of Númenor


• 2007 (SWG) -- And even as the Noldor set foot upon the strand their cries were taken up into the hills and multiplied, so that a clamour as of countless mighty voices filled all the coasts of the North; and the noise of the burning of the ships at Losgar went down the winds of the sea as a tumult of great wrath, and far away all who heard that sound were filled with wonder.


• 2009 -- How do you define your sense of humor? Is your sense of humor something can be universally appreciated? Think or write briefly about a time when your attempt at humor was misunderstood, or when you misunderstood another person's attempt at humor. Write a story, poem or create an artwork that shows different views of humor.

• 2013 (H) -- “The love of Lúthien had fallen upon him in the first hour of their meeting; and he grieved at her captivity. Therefore he came often to her chamber; and at night he lay before her door, for he felt that evil had come to Nargothrond.”
