Other ways to use the gameboard

We the mods encourage creativity and we wanted to remind you that you can switch paths at intersections. There’s also the option of just picking what prompts you want to work with, but that would be individual and not something we can help with.

If you do use these alternate ways to move around the board, continue tagging for whatever path the prompt comes from.

You’ll likely have to be looking at either the board or the text list for the following list to make sense. All intersections are either Wild or Acts of Kindness squares.

What was said elsewhere is this: work for a prompt must be new, so any fanworks created for a previous path do not count for any prompts on the new path. For example, say I started off on the green path and had a full moon in the first scene of my fic. But I then decided that I'd rather work on the purple path. The scene with the full moon does not count toward the "full moon" prompt on the purple path; I must somehow again work a full moon into my story.

You do not need to switch paths; the six paths on the board itself ARE the paths. We anticipate that most people will stick to them. The options listed in this post are for those who wish to combine paths or find a different way to the center than the official paths.

Sorry! I truly do have a mental disorder! I could not follow that train of thought because I could not imagine why anyone would try to make the paths/rules/game more complicated than it already was at a surface glance. I am always looking for ways to make it simpler and easier and more straight forward (and shorter!).

I promise, promise, promise I will not bother anyone about the fact that I am not able to follow these instructions anymore. I finally figured out why I cannot. They are always totally counter-intuitive for me. A bit like a trick question on a test which tries to entrap the unwary! One guesses the obvious, but then the answer is always something else.

All of this is totally my issue and not the mods, or how the instructions are worded, or people who get a kick out of this kind of thing. Lesson learned--it only took me years. Now I think I actually get it. I feel like a teetotaler at a drinking party.

Because some people will realize that they have more time than they thought and switch to a longer path or realize they had less time and switch to a shorter path or realize that the prompts on another path fit better where their fanwork is heading. I myself like one of the alternate ways; I'm doing the purple > red > yellow because it fits my idea the best. (I would have otherwise done the short fanworks path.)

The rules, in a nutshell, are: pick a path, create new material for the prompts (aka already-created material does not count for the prompts), and reach the center on or by March 31. Everything is a self-challenge so you don't need to concern yourself with how others are moving around the board. I do admit I am having a very hard time understanding how they're not obvious. If you're confused I guarantee others are as well and I'd like to fix that as best as I am able.
