B2MeM Prompt and Path: Act of Kindness and Tolkien Quote (blue path: artwork)
Format: digital art, with written copy
Genre: fic rec and digital art
Rating: Gen
Warnings: no warnings apply
Characters: Celegorm
Pairings: none so far
Creator’s Notes (optional): The story I want you all to read is: A Different Kind Of Peace by Tyelca and my comment in this case is for Chapter 2. Declaration in Nargothrond , although I left a comment on Chapter 1 as well.
Summary: This one is a fic rec to fulfill one of the above two prompts in the game path I am following. The second is a piece of artwork using a Tolkien quotation.
First, here was the comment I left on the story:
Telpërinquar took a breath. “I denounce my father, my uncles, my grandfather. I denounce their quest, their Oath and I denounce their heirlooms. . ."
And I cannot steal this title without crediting and sharing one of my favorite poems by John Keats. (I know! I like all the most popular ones.) When I steal the title in this case, the bright star in my mind fills in for both the Silmaril and Celebrimbor himself (he is one of my shining stars in the legendarium). I am emotional/sentimental this morning! Well, I think that's not inappropriate for Back to Middle-earth Month.

He is explicity denouncing the Silmarils here--apparently would not take one if it were offered him. Wise move! I always sympathize greatly with Celebrimbor. He did everything he could to do to make things right and not get caught up in the curse, but he was cursed anyway. This little story is moving on so many different levels. Well done ficlet and very painful to read.

BRIGHT STAR by John Keats
Bright star, would I were stedfast as thou art—
Not in lone splendour hung aloft the night
And watching, with eternal lids apart,
Like nature's patient, sleepless Eremite,
The moving waters at their priestlike task
Of pure ablution round earth's human shores,
Or gazing on the new soft-fallen mask
Of snow upon the mountains and the moors—
No—yet still stedfast, still unchangeable,
Pillow'd upon my fair love's ripening breast,
To feel for ever its soft fall and swell,
Awake for ever in a sweet unrest,
Still, still to hear her tender-taken breath,
And so live ever—or else swoon to death.
