B2MeM Prompt and Path: Act of Kindness: Write a rec list of at least five fanworks. Green path.
Format: Rec list
Genre: Listed individually
Rating: G to T
Warnings: Listed individually
Characters: Listed individually
Pairings: Listed individually
Creator's Notes (optional): There wasn't any specification about what to rec, so this is just a list of favourites.
Summary: Some of these are stories I keep going back to; others have stuck with me from the first and only reading. Click the fic title to be directed to the fic! :)

Fiddler's Green by Prackspoor
Genre: Gen
Characters: Tom Bombadil; Goldberry; Sauron; Farmer Maggot; Gandalf
Summary: After the War of the Ring and while doing her autumn cleaning, Goldberry finds a curious guest on the doorstep of Tom's house. She and Tom open their doors for the stranger who reveals to be more than meets the eye at first and has come to them teetering on the edge of his own destruction, looking for what may be his last chance at finding salvation.
Rec: Actually, I could very well rec everything that Prackspoor writes (I'm not even exaggerating), but this was the first fic of theirs that I read, and I periodically come back to read and revel in it. I could hardly sleep the first night after I finished it, my head and my heart hurting from contemplating the implications. I still think about it sometimes. It's really a masterful piece of writing, and so worth savouring.

The Right Thing To Do by Lbilover
Genre: Gen
Characters: Sam Gamgee
Summary: Sam must decide what to do with what remains of the Lady's gift.
Rec: This is an adorably sweet and pure little story with Sam Gamgee as the main character. If the world gets you down, read this cute little thing.

Clothes Don't Make The Man by uirgiliana
Genre: Gen/Humour
Characters: Nob; Aragorn
Summary: Nob isn't about to let an old rascal like that into the Prancing Pony, no sir! But there's something Barliman forgot to tell him....
Rec: This was such an entertaining little fic. The character's voice just shines through the author's words and the story itself is both interesting and pretty darn humorous.

I, The Abhorred by Sauron Gorthaur
Genre: Horror/Tragedy
Characters: Sauron
Summary: During the interrogation of one of Lord Melkor's prisoners, Mairon learns that among the Elves he has been given a new name.
Rec: I read this just the other day and it killed me. Some of the lines are just so powerful. It captured Mairon's character impeccably. A perfect little oneshot.

We, The Children of a Lesser God by Galad Estel
Genre: Poetry/Angst
Characters: Dwarves; Aulë
Summary: An old dwarf laments the fate of his people as he mines the earth.
Rec: A short fic that I read a while back and that has always resonated with me (much like the pounding of dwarven hammers, deep, deep underground).

Rest by ncfan
Genre: Gen
Characters: Amrod; Amras; Elurin; Eluréd; Maedhros
Warnings: Major character death
Summary: "That's them, isn't it?"
Rec: Another short fic that always stuck with me. Simple in what it says, and yet packing a powerful punch to the gut.

Unbroken Fellowship by me 4evaful
Genre: Adventure/Hurt/Comfort
Characters: Frodo; Aragorn; (the rest of the Fellowship + others, too)
Summary:Boromir abruptly departs the Fellowship at Amon Hen, and the Fellowship leave before the Uruk-Hai attack - unbroken. The arrival of Gollum sows the seeds of discord, turning the Fellowship against each other, and not all will come out alive. With so much tension between its members, how long will it be before the Fellowship cracks?
Rec:I read this quite a long while ago, but the premise and execution always stuck with me (along with the tragic fact that it was never finished). It's AU, and sometimes a bit OOC - what has been posted is, however, so worth the read.

The Dark Tree by Crazyeight
Genre:Fantasy/Adventure
Characters: Original characters
Summary: Memory of the darkness of ages past dims and shadows, forgotten, grow and take shape anew, becoming as a dark tree in the hearts of restless men. With the planting of a seed, change begins, and with it, the end of an age... The Fourth Age.
Rec: This fic is fairly new - but I was totally hooked by both the premise and the few chapters that have already been posted. Definitely recommend keeping tabs on this one!
