B2MeM Prompt and Path: Green - Darkness Falling
Format: Sign/Postcard
Genre: Calligraphy?
Rating: N/A
Warnings: bad calligraphy.
Characters: N/A (well, implied Húrin, I guess)
Pairings: N/A
Creator’s Notes (optional): I... meant to do something else, but I can't do it justice, so I went for something a lot more simple. Also, I probably misinterpreted the prompt? I read it in the sense of "Darkness falls and can't get up again" rather than "Darkness falls and swallows everything". Sorry about that. Though I guess it's good to think positive?
Summary: A motivational postcard/ anti-Morgoth protest sign with Húrin's famous battle-cry.

Some rambling here. So I wanted to paint Eärendil battling Ancalagon for the "Darkness Falling" prompt, but that turned out to be rather beyond my capacities. I'll still give it another try, but it's probably going to take all year so I needed something more do-able... and also something uplifting. Sooo I remembered that when I made some sloppy protest signs for the SWG challenge stamps, I actually quite liked the "Aurë entuluva" one and decided to re-make it, more orderly and with a more fitting colour scheme this time. I mean, it makes a nice rebellious poster or postcard or t-shirt or whatnot.

Come to think of it, it's rebellious in two directions; towards Morgoth, against whom Húrin actually utters it in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, and against Thingol's ban, because it's Quenya. Huh. As it happens, the other battle-cries we know from the Nirnaeth - Utúlië n'aurë etc., Auta i lomë - are also Quenya. Supposedly, the Noldor hardly used Quenya anymore at this point, but apparently, they made an exception on this special occasion? You can't tell me that's not meant to flip off Doriath (THANKS FOR NOTHING, THINGOL). Not by Húrin, maybe, but definitely by Fingon. Heh.

Anyway! Day shall come again!

I like it! It's strong and bold, and I like the design. (I would totally put that up in my room as a poster or wear it as a t-shirt.) And your interpretation of the prompt works for me.

A beautiful design.
I don't have a clue about how you format the language or write the letters, but the end result is great.

Oh my. I can see there's a whole degree course in writing Elvish.

In short..
Quenya (High-elven) - Fëanor created Tengwar script to write it. All other Elven languages come from it.
Well...more or less.

*puts lid on can of worms*

This is neat!

(Also, mod hat on: you can interpret the prompts however you like; we don't police how people approach them.)

Beautiful! I really like your calligraphy, actually, and love how it stands out against the dark background. :)
