Nerdanel the holy? *grins*
Well, it's hard not to think of her as such sometimes, since she had to put up with the 'fiery bunch' for so long. Maybe we forget too often that Fëanor wasn't always... er... slightly insane. Or that her sons weren't always "bloodthirsty killers" chasing some crazy Oath because of some jewels. IMO they had a pretty much normal life in Aman (hey, their normal doesn't necessarily mean our normal!) and that means they had flaws just like everyone else - Nerdanel included. Definitely no pedestal for her. I pity her for what she had to go through after her husband and sons left Aman. I bet the thought "I told you so" was not the one going through her head every time she learned about the death of her son(s). :(
*puts 'Nerdanel the holy' on the list of nicknames for the "Wise one"* ;)
