Prey, by Senalishia
B2MeM Prompt, Card and Number: “Women of the Silmarillion” - G48: Villainesses
Format: Double Drabble
Genre: Horror
Rating: Mature
Warnings: Graphic Violence
Characters: Thuringwethil, unfortunate elf OC
Pairings: None
Summary: Thuringwethil does a good job guarding the Orc camp, and that is its own reward.
Thuringwethil flitted and wheeled through the star-lit air over the encamped armies of the orcs. She never missed a chance to soar free from the stink of cookfires and unwashed bodies, but nevertheless earned her keep guarding their borders.
Beneath her, on the edge of the forest, she heard it, smelled it, felt the warmth of its body. There, up in that tree where it thought it was hiding. She passed over lower, on silent wing, and caught a glimpse of it. A creeping, skulking elf spy.
On her next pass she dove straight for it, crashing through branches to knock it off its perch onto the ground. She pinned it beneath her knee, hooked a claw into the soft flesh under its chin just enough to tease out a pearl of blood.
“What did you see?” she hissed as she prodded at its thoughts. “Who did you tell?”
But the elf closed its eyes and its mind and did not answer. She rarely got any information out of them.
She pulled her claw away ungently and tore at its throat with her teeth, ripping away skin and sinew and gulping down the hot blood that welled out from underneath.
