B2MeM Prompt, Card, and Number: N39 A sea journey (Story Elements), I20 The going of an inland soul to sea -E. Dickinson (Snippets Of Verse)
Format: Fanmix
Genre: N/A
Rating: N/A
Warnings: N/A
Characters: N/A
Pairings: N/A
Creator’s Notes: Some of these songs fit better, or in different ways than others. I had a hard time finding too many pertaining to a topic as specific as sea-longing, so there is some discrepancy in various songs’ obvious relevance.
Summary: A Youtube playlist for sea-longing.
The tracklist with occasional notes is under the cut!

1. Sea Calls Me Home by Julia Holter
2. Wish That You Were Here by Florence+ the Machine
This song is a personal favorite of mine. It means a lot to me. While it’s not specifically about sea-longing, it’s the most emotional depiction of longing in general that I know. And of course since it’s Florence there are some water references.
3. The Islander By Nightwish
4. Runaway by Jessiah (cover, original by AURORA)
5. To the sea! To the sea! by Adele Mcallister (poetry by J.R.R. Tolkien)
There is a remake of this. I personally prefer the original version which is why I included it here, but if anyone’s interested here is a link: “https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iQfYk7AELIg”
6. Song to A Seagull by Joni Mitchell
7. Sea-Longing by Kenneth Mckellar

Date: 2019-03-12 08:19 pm (UTC)Adele Mcallister has set a lot of Tolkien poetry to music if you’re interested. To the sea! To the sea! was the first setting of hers that I ever heard, and so it’s special to me. Some others of hers that I love are In Western Beneath the Sun, The Ent and the Entwife, and The Little House Of Lost Play if you’re interested.

Date: 2019-03-12 08:13 pm (UTC)To the sea! To the sea! is probably my favorite too. I love Adele Mcallister, and I think that is one of her best.
Song to a Seagull I debated including but figured it was close enough. Plus it has a melancholy melody..
Anyway, thank you for commenting!
Sincerely,
Nienna

Of the others perhaps my favourite might be the Joni Mitchell song.
