B2MeM Prompt, Card and Number: “Women of the Silmarillion” - O75: Original female characters
Format: Double drabble
Genre: Drama
Rating: General
Warnings: No warnings apply
Characters: Original female elf character
Pairings: None
Creator's notes: This is the very first Tolkien OC I ever created and I still think she's pretty neat.
Summary: Injured elf searches for home
Nauriel forced herself to stumble forward, even as the sun set and rain poured from star-obscuring clouds. She had to be close. True, Imladris was designed to be hard to find, especially from the east. But she needed shelter, and healing. She felt lucky to still possess all four limbs, but those orcs had spilled enough of her blood before she escaped them. If she lay down now, she didn't expect to get up again on this side of the sea, and she'd already decided she still had things to do here. So she trudged on and hoped her spirit was leading her toward Elrond.
Melda nudged the side of her leg, and she spared enough energy to scratch her behind the ears. The sweet girl had found her again after they'd been separated during the attack. Best dog.
The ground sloped downward here, and the occasional lightning flash showed her increasingly dense trees. She could hear voices calling out to one another, and not in the tortured tones of the orcs’ tongue.
She walked face-first into something warm and horsey-smelling. Someone said her name. She looked up, and finally let herself collapse with the word peredhel on her lips.
