Title: Bedtime Story
Author: Oshun
Ratings: Gen
Warnings: None
Format: Drabble
Prompt:  March 1: He was interested in roots and beginnings… (The Fellowship of the Ring, Book I, Chapter 2)
Summary: A tiny Fëanor overly romanticizes what the dark days in Middle-earth must have been like (perhaps with dire consequences for his future).

Roots and beginnings fascinated Fëanáro. He loved the stories about Cuiviénen, with its endless forests and starry skies, how brave hunters and huntresses stalked through unknown lands, marching unflagging over mountains, and across rushing rivers and babbling brooks. Míriel had more patience for those fanciful tales than Finwë. She even made the growling noises that caused him to squeal with joy but, occasionally, to wake up later screaming in fear.

“You indulge him too much. He wears you out. Let me tuck him into his own bed!”

“No! Leave him. I feel so cold and he’s always warm and toasty.”

I just love Miriel here and how patient she is with Fëanáro! I can see where this is going, of course, but at least he has his mother with him now. The closeness between mother and son is adorable but also heartbreaking, knowing what's to come. I bet Indis never got the voices right, no matter how hard she tried...

Oh, this is good. I like a Fëanor interested in roots and beginnings and I like this view on Míriel. The last line, though ....that’s tough.

Get ‘er done.

I have never wished more for an icon of a wolf.

I like this a lot, Oshun, both the story-telling and the bit of dialogue between the parents! Although the last line foreshadows sadness, of course.

Your formating looks fine to me. There is a cut and the paragraphs seems to be all there.

This is lovely. I'm with Feanor! I love stories about Cuivienen. But the scary ones are probably best left until he's older.
