Summary: Nightmares abound when one is forced into darkness...



The tentacle reached for him, wrapped itself snakelike around his leg. He tried to move, to run, to flee, but it held him fast, and more tentacles emerged from the water, trapping his arms, pinning them to his sides. Pulling him toward the gaping maw...

Aragorn gasped and jerked awake. Boromir held out a hand to steady him. “Are you all right, friend?”

It was several moments before he found breath to reply. “A nightmare, that is all.”  He looked around the shadowy cavern of Moria and wondered if they’d escaped one nightmare only to plunge into one far darker.

Oh, I do like this very much. Surely they all had such dreams as this and I like that it was Boromir who was there to comfort him.

Thanks! I completely agree on the nightmares... surely they all had them at one time or another, even the mighty Aragorn. And I rather liked having Boromir as the one to give him a little rough comfort... it surprised me to see him there when Aragorn woke up. ;)

Yes, it could have been him as the Heir of Elendil who was the creature's target rather than Frodo as the Ringbearer. He has every reason to shudder! And now it is Gandalf who is most in danger, now that they are caught having to traverse Moria at last. Excellent images this brings!
