“It's hardly surprising, she's always been an odd one.” In out, in out; is that a flower or a cloud?
“Oh I know, but you'd think she'd have better taste than that.” In out, in out, prick a finger, prick a thumb.
“Hardly, I've always said she'd get into trouble.” A nod, a wince, a shaken hand.
“I still can't believe it personally, climbing Glingal is one thing, but this! She always seemed such a sweet little thing.”
“Oh I agree, but I swear on the Great Lady's stars that I do not lie.” A scowl, a shudder, she was so certain that this time her dog would look like a cat.
“I bet she never had that problem with her husband!” A sniff, a wince, a sucked finger.
"She? More like he!” A laugh, a grimace. “It's definitely he that's had the problems with her.”
“Oh! I can just imagine it, Manwë walks home one night after blowing forth strong winds all day and comes home to find-” she pauses, her needle primed above the cloth, “-his lady wife in the watery arms of Lord Ulmo.”
A roar of laughter ripples around the room followed swiftly by groans as they simultaneously stab themselves.
“So what are you going to do about it, Cuilwen? Cover it up? Give them away? Keep them?” A chuckle, clearly the ladies of the Gondolin sewing circle are enjoying themselves.
“Keep them of course.” Cuilwen replies. “I do hate mice and kittens are very useful although...” she ponders a moment, “eight of them may be too many for us to cope with.”
