B2MeM Challenge: N43, Aspects of Aragorn (Strider)
Format: Ficlet
Title: Strider
Genre: Gen
Rating: G/K
Warnings: None
Characters: Sam, Merry, Pippin, Frodo, Aragorn/Strider
Pairings: N/A
Summary: The hobbits follow Strider...but Frodo, at least, doesn't seem very happy about it.
"How d'you reckon he got his name?" Sam asked in an undertone as the four hobbits trailed along behind the long-legged stranger.
"Just take a look at him," Merry whispered back. "Those are the longest legs I've ever seen in my life."
"It's no wonder he's called Strider," Pippin murmured. "I wish *I* had legs like that. Maybe mine wouldn't get so tired if they were that long."
"Where would he put 'em in a hobbit-hole?" wondered Sam. "Ain't no place I've seen besides Bag End with that much room for legs that long."
"He'd still be tall even in Bag End," Frodo pointed out. "I wonder whether he remembers that we can't take such long strides. One would think he could slow it down a bit."
"This *is* slow, Master Baggins," said the strange man. "Or shall I show you fast?"
Frodo stopped, glared, and bit his lip.
"All I'm saying is that you *might* remember how short *some* people's legs are," he shot back, crossing his arms over his chest.
Strider turned and looked at him. "Are you quite finished, Master Baggins? We have far to go before we rest tonight."
Frodo glared back at him, but began to follow once more, this time in a stubborn silence.
